Contemporary Traditional for Hansen & Jessica's Engagement

In a beautiful glasshouse overlooking the heart of Jakarta, we held H & J's engagement ceremony.

Working with our couple, there were heavy Chinese influences sprinkled throughout the entire engagement. To make it extra special, we incorporated some modern elements to match with the venue, and the youthful personalities of both our bride and groom.

The result? A stunning engagement ceremony befitting Hansen and Jessica. It's too good not to share, so lets start by showcasing you some of our favourite memories from this event!

Starting the day with the gorgeous custom invitation suite beautifully designed by Syv Studio. Each invitation was in a book open format, with traditional prints of waves and oriental patterns in the perfect shade of sage green and gold. The invites were all meticulously finished with a light gold tassel for the final touch.

Not to forget, the hand painted illustration by Claudia Rachel, which matches the detail on Jessica's Qipao (coming up in a minute!) adds the finishing touch to the engagement stationery.

Sneak peak of Jessica's attire, we thought it was truly breathtaking! Stunning work as usual from Stella Lunardy.

Dominated by gold and hints of green, this fully embroidered Qipao depicts elegance and luxury.

If you look closely on the embroidery detail, you can see hand sewn Chinese figures actively working in their villages, along with beautiful Chinese scenery, all done with meticulous perfection and a high level of detail.

This beautiful piece was finished off with a tassel belt from three different shades of gold, and with a jewel brooch with various pearls to accentuate the waist, keeping the look traditional, and young at the same time.

Another detail we absolutely adored was in Jessica's hairpiece and ornamental fan, both by Ayyara, specialising in handcrafted jewellery.

For Jess, we picked golden accessories with a twist! Opting to showcase the outline and structure of fan and hairpiece, instead of the usual fabric fan, emphasising the contemporary vibe of the whole look.

What intricate details goes into a single piece. The combination of white pearls and gold elements really do make each accessory pop and goes along with the whole look perfectly.

Here's our bride in her final look, we're loving how everything complements each other. This truly is the perfect look for Jessica's engagement! Meanwhile....

Hansens wore a teal Changpao by Agus Lim with green lining to complement the bride to be. Another unique detail was the intricate embroidery on the left side of his Changpao, exclusively hand embroidered for this look, with resembling patterns and colours to Jess's Qipao.

We're loving how the groom's family is so matchy-matchy! The entire family was dressed in similar tones of bronze, and it does make for a perfect photo!

After countless beauty shoots, let's proceed to the ceremony and engagement decor!

Upon entry, guests were greeted with the all acrylic round welcome sign, with flower arrangements in coral and peach tones.

Alongside, there were rows of rattan souvenir boxes in green and gold displayed, as a token of appreciation for the guests. We're loving how in line all the decoration aspects are!

Held in the magnificent glasshouse, the natural lighting really brightens up the whole atmosphere with a warm and inviting ambience!

The entire decor was set in a Contemporary Traditional theme, wanting the entire look to be modern and young without sacrificing their Chinese roots. Hence we got the idea to use gold geometrical structures combining with the silver Chinese wall structures, and finished with floral arrangements in peach tones, with bright pops of yellows and reds.

We mixed the use of gold hexagon tray and mirrored acrylic tray instead of using 1 type of tray to create some dimension in the overall look.

Notice that we used acrylic stands for the trays, so as to keep the entire look minimalistic and clean, in line with the decor.

As always, beautiful decoration by Syv Studio.

Always going the extra mile, we made sure the table setting were not neglected!

Pairing sage green tablecloths with gold tiffany chairs, the combination was simply stunning.

In the middle was a monochromatic show plate with yellow napkins and customised menu booklet, finished with golden cutleries, and in line with the entire aesthetic.

When evening falls, the entire atmosphere changed. The backdrop was lit by additional lighting, changing the bright mood into a mysterious but nonetheless marvellous look. Trust us when we say, lighting matters so much in decor!

We also had a chance to style some beauty portraits for our husband and wife to be.

Showing you guys some of our favourite shoots! All wonderfully captured by Venema Pictures.

Another beautiful project ticked off our list! We wish you a heartfelt congratulations on getting one step closer to being Mr and Mrs Yansah!
