Moroccan Blue & Rooibos Tea for Hansens & Jessica's Wedding

Never a boring wedding planning journey with Hans & Jess! This one of a kind couple let us explore their wedding decor with lots of new and fresh ideas.

With so many ongoing and new restrictions to hold a wedding in Jakarta, we constantly battled with uncertainty planning a ballroom wedding. As fate would have it, their big day was a joyous one, with everything happening according to motion.

Bringing royal blues and crimson for their wedding colours and set in a grand ballroom in the heart of Jakarta, watch how we styled their wedding with timeless elegance and modernity.

First of all, let's start by talking about the main hues and elements, which is moroccan blue and rooibos tea Pantone colour! Combining both colours is definitely not an easy feat as both are dominating colours. However, we added more shades of blue and paired with them with a neutral white, to achieve a seamless combination

Taking into account the bride's love for statement, we played with pleats, structures and mirror finishes. Take a look at the stationery set from their wedding consisting of their main invites, holy matrimony book, and customised menu card.

Together with Papeworks, we created a very unique and modern suite, featuring hues of Moroccan blue and mirror finishes!

For her morning preparation and wanting to look extra, Jess wore one of the most beautiful robes we've seen! Together with Jean Tirtamarta's handiwork, we constructed a fully pleated robe, with an off shoulder finish. We absolutely loved how the designer combined two different types of fabric, with the bodice area made from soft draping tulle, and the skirt from satin to achieve the draping look.

Next up on the agenda, we wanted to highlight the very unique bridesmaid gifts and dresses! All the bridesmaid's dresses were in a bright, gorgeous shade, completed with an asymmetric giant ribbon as the unique accent.

Instead of the usual rectangle box, Jess chose octagon shaped bridesmaids boxes to gift her bridal party. We're loving how the entire gift set turned out!

Coming right up, a stunning wedding dress, designed and crafted by one of Indonesia's top designers, the one and only Hian Tjen.

Turning her dream to reality, Hian Tjen skilfully combined the essence of a simple and classic white dress with modern elements.

The result? A beautiful pearl embellished fabric top with satin mermaid tail, along with side cut outs to highlight Jess's figure.

Meanwhile, in the groom suite, we spot the groom getting ready to fetch his dear bride!

Before going to the bridal suite, we'd love to show you this beautiful arrangement by Flore Bastille featuring stems of white orchids and green draping amaranthus, creating a natural trailing effect from the bride's hand.

Our beautiful couple heading off for their Holy Matrimony session...

Love, love how the church decoration turned out, perfectly sums up what our couple wanted to achieve for their sacred matrimony; magnificent yet graceful. Social Distancing rule has made church ceremony nowadays feels more vacant, hence we asked for the baby breath gate to be moved to the middle part of the room, making the gate visible from the front angle, creating the illusion of a fuller room.

Oh white baby’s breath and orchid, you can never go wrong with these two😍

Moving on to her evening look, Jess added a sleeve for the night. Can’t stop staring at the details! This stack of tulles and ruffles are just too dreamy, nonetheless creating an extravagant and dramatic look which suits our bride so well.

To complete, we paired it with a white flower cluster hairpiece from Rinaldy Yunardi, making her entire look appear modern and sleek.

Paired with her second bouquet, also from Flore Bastille, Jess was ready to rock her reception! Beautiful tulips, orchids, and peonies were the perfect accessory to walk her down the carpet.

Before reception, we had time to sneak in a mini photo studio session, here's one of the entire bridal party we absolutely adored!

Onward to reception, where the decor got really vibrant!

To say we're in love with their bold wedding would be an understatement, the entire decor was based on dark blue tones, with bright pops of crimson.

Rich red and blue florals were placed everywhere, from the gazebo, photo spot, to the guest tables, it was colour everywhere.

The bridal stage was the main feature of their decoration, as it was placed in the middle of the room making this overlapping fabric mixed flowers hanging decoration becomes the focal point of the area. Can you see the resemblance of the ceiling decoration with Jess’s morning dress?

To create more variety, we mixed both long and round guest table for H & J’s wedding reception.

As for the chairs, we used acrylic olive chairs to balance out the blue & red hues, while simultaneously elevating the elegance of the whole look..

When playing with bold colours like this, the lighting plays a big role as it is actually an element that controls the ambiance. We replaced the original ballroom lighting and let Lumens Lighting set the ambience for the reception.

Voila, loving how it complements the reception decor!

Each guest was provided with a beautiful show plate completed with modern wedding stationaries. We loved how each piece turns out as the guest could read the couple's story, in a beautiful mirror finish.

Completing the entire look was a stunning 5 tiered wedding cake from Sweet Salt. With a base of white, and adorned with ruffles and sugar flowers, it was truly a modern cake fit for H & J's theme.

Congratulations once again Hans & Jess! Thank you for placing your trust in us! It has been a wonderful journey with you guys, with hardly any dull moments.

Well wishes from everyone at Behind the Vows, and may your love for one another continue to shine bright forever ✨
